Share Issuance

What is the annual issuance amount?

For 2025, the authorized amount is set at $150M. It will be indexed annually to ensure better product availability for the coming years. In 2026, the amount will be $155M.

What is the 2025 issuance period?

The issuance year runs from March 1 to the last day of February. Transactions must be completed during the subscription period.

When will the next issuance take place?

The subscription for the 2025 issuance is ongoing, and the one for 2026 will take place next fall.

Tax Credit

Can the tax credit change again?

Yes. This tax credit is determined by the government and can be modified at any time.

Can I benefit from the tax credit if I’ve reached the subscription limit?

No. If you have reached or exceeded the $45,000 limit, you are no longer eligible to subscribe to new shares.

Is the tax credit revoked upon redemption?

Yes, the revocation of the tax credit remains applicable in the event of a share redemption.

Can the tax credit rate change again?

Yes. The tax credit is determined by the government and may be subject to change.

Holding Period

What is the holding period for shares?

All shares must be held for a minimum of 7 years. However, shares acquired after March 1, 2025 now have a maximum holding period of 14 years.

Do I need to redeem shares held for more than 14 years?

No for shares issued before March 1, 2025. However, those acquired afterward cannot be held beyond the 14th year.

Lifetime subscription limit

What is the lifetime subscription limit

The Government of Québec has introduced a lifetime subscription limit of $45,000. This means that any shareholder who has personally subscribed for an amount equal to or greater than this threshold will no longer be eligible to acquire new shares.

How is this amount calculated?

The limit is based on the acquisition cost of the shares, meaning the price paid regardless of their current market value. Shares received through inheritance are not included in the calculation.

Can I continue to subscribe if I haven’t reached the limit?

Yes, shareholders who have not reached the cumulative limit of $45,000 may continue to subscribe.

How can I check if I’ve reached the limit?

Check your CRCD account in AccèsD or ask your Desjardins caisse.

Will I be notified if I’ve reached the limit?

Yes, a communication will be sent to affected shareholders during each issuance.

Do I need to redeem my shares if I have reached the limit?

No. Share issuances between 2001 and 2024 as well as exchanges from 2018 to 2022 do not involve any redemption obligation.
